I can see my job from here!

I LOVE my neighborhood office! I have been working around the clock, so it's GREAT that one of my jobs is practically on my front porch.

We census takers are having a great time meeting new friends and finding out how many people They LIVE With.

I have had only the warmest receptions - I drank homemade tamarind juice, held a baby, and listened to some great Sunset Park lore.

Brooklyn is FUN CITY!

2nd stop on my homes tour!

I get heart pangs every time I pass by my old 2 bedroom apartment with exposed brick in Hell's Kitchen. I paid $350/month - I had no idea what that meant back in the 90's.

Since then, I have become a connoisseur of Good Deals.

My current home has two showers in the bathroom and an entire backyard - what a deal! To make the most of my yard, I just bought a giant umbrella to cover my swinging outdoor couch. I also bought stilts!

Circles!

Team Census is so overwhelmed with non-respondents that it forgot to switch my status over to Trainee! This means another week long stint as Limbo Enumerator for me. I'm free to roam the office AND the streets - Everywhere I like!

Top Secret!

While enumerating Brooklyn yesterday, I came across this secret code at the New Utrecht stop off the N train.

Ain't she a beauty? I'm going to take it to my lab and do some serious analysis. Hopefully, I'll be able to crack the code. Maybe I'll find what lies beyond space and/or win the $122 mega million jackpot.

I won't my job quit if I win the lottery though. Strolling Brooklyn in the Springtime is the very best occupation!

Homes Tour 2!

I meant to make it to Midtown Manhattan today for the second stop on my homes tour.

But in these days of too many jobs and too little time, I was unable to venture so far West. Brooklyn wouldn't let me go!

Brooklyn is also making me play Scrabble instead of writing my script.

It is also making me eat tons of candy.

I love it here.

I'll Westward Ho to Manhattan next week!

Salad!

I won! The high rollers ate fruit salad like it was going out of style last night.

Rumor has it that the game is moving to a fancier establishment next week - a ground floor tournament room with chandeliers and no limits.

That's going to call for fancier salads!

Expo!

I have a new goal for 2011 - my own BOOTH at the NYC Bridal expo. The only thing I like more than an expo is a Booth. And last night I saw some real beauties.

Banners and pedestals, dresses and cakes - giant dioramas of my dreams! The booth I was working at starred feng shui boxes full of rocks and business cards and glass boxes full of beautiful green grass. So calming - everyone loved it!

I hope to incorporate live elements into my booth too - maybe flowers and definitely Dancers! Good thing I have a whole year to make up the moves - I want everyone to stop by my booth!

The Finger!

The theme of my employment strategy for this week has been -- OUTTA SIGHT! I’ve mainly been hiding in the supply closet – where I’ve stayed out of sight and in the money – unseen until someone needs a supply - then, voila - there I am in the right place at the right time!

This technique landed me a spot in a super fun, four-hour finger printing workshop. The very highest ups were learning how to take prints, and I got to join them just because I knew where the inkpads were!

Finger Printing isn’t as easy as it looks. Luckily, there are no stupid questions – only stupid fingers!

Homes Tour!

Yesterday - on my lunch break from Census Taking - I decided to start my NYC homes tour.

Fort Greene Brooklyn is BEAUTIFUL (and super close to the Census Office). This was my first NYC residence- back in the 90's!

It was so nice to wake up to choirs singing!
