Bad News!

Take a Look at Fox 5's so called coverage -

http://video.foxnews.com/v/4055241/checkup-with-dr-coomer

FYI - that's not me! And that's not my sleep colleague! Those folks aren't wearing wires - they don't even look tired.

I gave that reporter great sound bytes too - such as:

"Weird - I totally had a dream about you last night!"

and

"I can fall asleep quick cause it turns out, I really like being Observed."

and

"I feel like a million bucks - I bet I could lift you over my head."

Those clowns wouldn't know a real news story if it bit em. Believe me - I tried.

Better Luck Next Time.

Man - I went to bed Late. I got up Late. Plus I ate about one thousand pancakes. Luckily, tomorrow is a new day!

Home!

Stop the presses!

Fox Five News interviewed me at the sleep study. Hopefully, I'll be all over the front page! We'll see though, I might be bumped by winter storm coverage.

I am going to try to integrate my great new sleeping and waking habits into the real world - I love it here!

MRI heart donuts!

Wow - It's been a great day of brain scanning! While I was inside the giant machine, they showed me pictures of ice cream, tape, donuts, calculators, etc.

I was to tap my Index Finger if I had seen the item within the last week and my Middle Finger if I had not seen it.

While I didn't actually SEE any donuts during this sleep study, I visualized them a lot - no middle fingers for this guy!

Exra Sensory Census Taker

I don't know if it's from all the clean living, or all the machines, or what - but I have been super psychic this past week. I am feeling totally one with the Universe. For example, I was just thinking - I sure hope the U.S. Census calls right....now. And it DID!!!!

Today the scientists had me in a bubble for quite some time. I wasn't supposed to sleep, and I wasn't supposed to think too much. Tall order - especially considering all I have to think about re: new census taking clothes and shoes. I'm also going to get a cute new spiral notebook to take notes in at paid training!

I'm out of the bubble now and off to the Roller Blading Machine at the gym. Hopefully I'll be able to read minds by bedtime!

Wired

Today is the day of maximum science. No gym because I am hooked up to machines 24/7.

The class I took yesterday was good for two days though. Totally vigorous plus trampolines - so it was twice as fun!

I am So Well Rested.

Going Halfsies!

My colleague and I have been having a great time. We've been going to the gym together every day - Today we're in for Abs, Back and Buns class. We've both lost a pound!

I must admit that I am a little jealous. She has been getting Entire muffins, and I've been getting Half muffins. The scientists say that we're allotted muffins according to our energy requirements.

C'mon - I could Always use some extra pep, and she doesn't even Like the muffins. I think they're great - the halves that I've had anyway.

Crazy Legs!

There are so many studies going on at the same time here at clinilabs, and we have to dress accordingly. My sleep study colleague and I have to wear yellow scrubs so the scientists know we don't have restless leg syndrome or an eating disorder.

Since I only brought 2 badminton rackets, I have to think of some other way to unite all of us participants for max fun. I am keeping my fingers crossed for karaoke!

My Last Name is Control!

This sleep study has turned out to be Better than I could have imagined in my wildest dreams! For these next 6 days I get to sleep for 9 hours a night + gym + three healthy meals + muffins. I heart clean living!

No sleep deprivation? No problem.

But there's a phase two.

I'll come back in four weeks (unless I have a census job by then - hope, hope) and that's when they'll start depriving me - I'll get bigger bucks for phase one if I complete phase two. But I don't have time to worry about the future, I'll be going to sleep soon - and I still have to work out!

Stay Awake!

There is so much to do before I leave for my sleep study - I can't rest til it's done! Luckily, I drank a stadium of coffee today in preparation for the caffeine withdrawal to come.

The only thing that could make this experiment any more awesome would be if someone would please sublet my apartment while I am gone. It is about to be so tidy.

Unfortunately, my award winning gazebo was felled by the storm. But who's in the mood for outdoor entertaining anyway? Hunker down by my space heater why don't you? Have some cocoa and take a nap - the sky's the limit!

Great News!

I'm in! After a blood test and simple Q and A - the scientists knew that I was a perfect match for the study. I have to be at the clinic this Saturday at 7am.

I was hoping for a super fun midtown style sleep away camp setting, but it turns out there is only 1 other person who qualified. Two candidates turned out to be anemic and three others were too irregular - sleep pattern wise. I hope my new colleague likes to play net-less, indoor badminton cause I'm bringing it!

The clinic will give me towels, linens and clothes to wear for the whole week. I bet the outfits are cute and the sheets are flannel! There is so much to look forward to...

They know when I'm awake!

I have been wearing this device around my waist for the last two weeks, so the scientists can keep up with my sleeping patterns. (And probably also read my mind - If they can: Hello - I really want to participate in your sleep study!)

Tomorrow I go in to the lab for the final test to make sure I am one thousand percent qualified to participate. How will I be able to get a full 8 hours in tonight? I am so nervous!

5 Days to Go!

Soon I'll be moving in to an elevator building with doorman on 55th street in Manhattan. That's some address - not to mention the other perks of participating in this sleep study like: TV, heat, gym membership and 3 healthy meals PLUS MUFFINS!

When I'm not working out - I'll be chowing down! I can't believe they're Paying me for this. I'm doing a lot of Resting now in preparation for the fun to come.

I am a little cheered by my friend sara who also missed one on her census test. She's Real Smart! Sara, we'll keep tryin in '10, and I'll dream of one hundred percents tonight.

Winter is no time to Hibernate!

I have taken the U.S. Census placement test 3 times so far in 2010. The coveted office jobs are on reserve for perfect scorers, and I keep missing one. I bring two pencils - I check my math - all the bubbles are filled in - I don't know what's going wrong!

Next week, I am participating in a sleep study so that I can make a bunch of money while studying maps and multiplication all night long. With so many waking hours coming my way, a sweet desk job is just around the corner - I can't wait!
